In this article, we would like to bring together the most important information in one place, explain the reasons for the changes, and remind you how and when we informed users about them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which SuperMemo versions were discontinued?<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>browser version: <a href=\"http:\/\/app.supermemo.com\">app.supermemo.com<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Windows PC application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Android application version 1.6.363.2.11.92<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the current versions?<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>browser version: <a href=\"http:\/\/learn.supermemo.com\">learn.supermemo.com<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Android app: <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.supermemo.capacitor&amp;hl=en\">Google Play<\/a> (version 1.0.17 or later)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>iOS app: <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/supermemo-effective-learning\/id982498980\">App Store<\/a> (version 2.1.18-ios or later)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the only versions that are technically supported by us, regularly updated, and actively developed.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why were the older applications discontinued?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The older SuperMemo applications were based on technologies that no longer allowed for further development or the implementation of new features. The decision to discontinue them was part of a strategy to streamline and modernize SuperMemo, as well as to focus on the new, continuously developed browser version (learn.supermemo.com) and the mobile applications (iOS, Android).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did we inform users about the shutdown of the old versions?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information about the planned discontinuation of the old versions was communicated through various channels well in advance. Below is a reminder of the full communication timeline:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>30 June 2025<\/strong> \u2013 email sent to users of the old versions (using only the old version or both the old and new versions)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>14 July 2025<\/strong> \u2013 blog post about the shutdown of the old versions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>14\u201316 July 2025<\/strong> \u2013 notification in the old and new Android app<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4\u20136 August 2025<\/strong> \u2013 notification in the old and new Android app, Windows app, app.supermemo.com, learn.supermemo.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>7 August 2025<\/strong> \u2013 email sent to users of the old Android app, Windows app, and app.supermemo.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>From 18 August<\/strong> \u2013 information included in the footer of mailings sent to all contacts with marketing consent (in every mailing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>21\u201324 August 2025<\/strong> \u2013 notification in the old and new Android app, Windows app, app.supermemo.com, learn.supermemo.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>5\u20138 September 2025<\/strong> \u2013 notification in the old and new Android app, Windows app, app.supermemo.com, learn.supermemo.com (extension of the deadline for switching to the new versions)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extension of the deadline for discontinuing the old versions<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially, the shutdown of the old versions was planned for <strong>01.09.2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the large number of users who had not switched to the newer versions by that time, we decided to extend this period until <strong>15.09.2025<\/strong>. This change was also reflected in our communications (in line with the timeline listed above).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What about offline learning?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offline learning is available in the current <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.supermemo.capacitor&amp;hl=en\">Android<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/supermemo-effective-learning\/id982498980\">iOS<\/a> mobile applications. At the same time, we would like to emphasize that it is still in the <strong>BETA<\/strong> phase, which means we are continuously working on it and it may not yet include all planned functionalities. You can learn more about offline learning in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supermemo.com\/en\/faq\/can-i-use-supermemo-offline\">SuperMemo FAQ<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the browser version at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/learn.supermemo.com\">learn.supermemo.com<\/a><\/strong>, only online learning is available.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did the older applications still work after 15.09.2025?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have received reports from users who say that after 15.09.2025 they were still able to use older versions of the applications (including the Windows PC app), and that issues (e.g. with synchronization) appeared only after some time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We would like to clarify that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>older applications are connected to different SuperMemo systems and databases, which means that, for technical reasons, some elements may continue to work temporarily after the official discontinuation date; however, this does not mean that these applications are still supported or that their correct operation is guaranteed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>after 15.09.2025, the use of the old applications takes place outside their period of technical support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can you do?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We encourage all users to switch to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supermemo.com\/en\/app\">current versions of SuperMemo<\/a>, which are actively developed, technically supported, and provide the latest features.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the current versions of SuperMemo, you will find your courses with the most recently synchronized learning progress.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Recently, we have been receiving more inquiries about the SuperMemo applications that were discontinued in September 2025.
