Author royalties (#8153)
(Fiona,
Australia, Thu, Apr 25, 2002)
Question:
Why does the library pay only 33% to the authors?
67% should be more than enough to cover payment costs and online delivery costs
Answer:
Taxes
alone consume nearly half of the revenue. Considering VAT, income tax, server, maintenance and processing costs, deductions, syndicated marketing fees, etc. this value, depending on the price of the collection, often results in a net
loss to the library. Sadly, SuperMemo Library operations are still
to make a profit. Hopefully it will be in the black by the end of 2002 and then
independently incorporated. Unlike the music or publishing industry, SuperMemo Library takes utmost care about its authors and provides maximum support
proportional to available means. Last but not least, 33% royalty is far ahead of the industry
average
